From Gamebyte
“Sony has announced your PlayStation Now games for December 2021 and it includes a couple of fan-favourite classics. As of yesterday, PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to play GTA 3: The Definitive Edition, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, John Wick Hex and Splitlings.”
From Gaming Bible
“PlayStation Plus subscribers are once again hitting out at the service, after it emerged that many of them are not eligible to claim a recent PlayStation 5 upgrade. Yesterday, Naughty Dog and PlayStation announced Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection for PlayStation 5. This is an enhanced and upgraded double-pack that contains souped-up versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Unfortunately, this upgrade will not be free for anyone who already owns Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy. Upgrading to Legacy Of Thieves Collection will cost you £10/$10 – although you do only need to own one of the games in the collection to be eligible for the £10 upgrade, which is something. Unfortunately, those who claimed either game via PlayStation Plus are locked out of getting the cheaper upgrade and will need to pay full price for the PS5 version. As you can imagine, this hasn’t gone down well. “This is the new trend from Sony I guess. ‘You claimed from PS plus? Sucks to be you, you can’t upgrade to the ps5 version,’ added another. Unfortunately this is not the first time PS Plus users have been blocked from getting a cheaper (or free) new-gen upgrade because they claimed their games via the subscription service. Hopefully this is just one of the many issues Sony is able to address as part of PS Plus’s rumoured overhaul.”
From Tech Radar
” If you’ve been patiently waiting for PS5 VRR support, Sony may have given us a subtle hint that the highly requested feature could be on its way to PlayStation 5 users soon. As spotted by HDTV Test, the company has begun rolling out a new firmware update in China that enables variable refresh rate (VRR) support and an automatic low latency mode (ALLM) to its 2020 Bravia X900H TVs, a PS5-ready display that already supports 4K at 120Hz. VRR support is a strange omission from the PS5’s feature set, particularly as the technology has been available on Xbox consoles since April 2018. Variable refresh rate helps eliminate screen tearing and masks any minor framerate drops to provide a smoother experience when gaming.”
PS5 Pro cancelled!?
We’re just over a year into this console cycle and it’s still nearly impossible for a normal person to get their hands on new hardware. The PlayStation 5 has been notoriously difficult to find since it launched, with the Xbox Series X also facing the same shortages.
While this is an issue for consumers and the console makers in the immediate sense, this extended scarcity has created a ripple effect in the market. This entire culture of carefully watching retailers for updates just to have a chance to buy a console has burned gamers. We’re basically learning that if you don’t throw down your money as fast and as early as possible, then you may not get that new console for a year — or even two.
On top of everything, rumors have been circulating about Sony specifically attempting to repeat the mid-generation upgrade it made with the PS4 Pro with some type of PS5 Pro that could arrive as early as 2023. Technically, that’s the same timeline we saw when the PS4 Pro launched after the base PS4, and yet this time I don’t see the market being all that pleased if it turns out to be true.
